19th Arrondissement

The 19th arrondissement is located on the Right Bank of the River Seine. It is crossed by two canals, the Canal Saint-Denis and the Canal de l'Ourcq, which meet near the Parc de la Villette.

The 19th arrondissement includes two public parks: the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, located on a hill, and the Parc de la Villette

The 19th is a mix of old buildings in disrepair, tower blocks from the 1960s and 1970s, and lively commerce, all fueled by the immigrants who have been showing up here for over a century. In 1900 more than 80% of the population was working class, and it remains so today.
